Description:

The painting is set within an arched architectural frame, suggesting a sacred space. In the center, the Virgin Mary is enthroned, holding the infant Christ on her lap. Mary is depicted with a gentle, downward gaze, wearing a blue mantle over a red gown. The Christ Child, wearing a light yellow garment, stands on Mary's lap and reaches out towards Saint Catherine of Siena on the left. Both Mary and the Christ Child have golden halos. To the left stands Saint Catherine of Siena, identified by her Dominican habit (black and white) and a crown of thorns above her golden halo. She gazes tenderly at the Christ Child and holds a book and a lily stalk, symbols associated with her. At her feet lies a small wheel with swords, another of her attributes.
