Description:

The painting depicts the martyrdom of Saint Sebastian. The saint, a muscular, semi-nude young man, is tied to a tree and pierced by arrows. His gaze is directed upwards. Attending to him are several figures. To the left, a woman, possibly Saint Irene, supports the infant Christ, who reaches out towards Saint Sebastian's arrows. Behind them stands an older bearded man, looking on. Another woman in a light-colored garment stands with her hands clasped in sorrow. A dark-bearded man kneels at the base of the tree, seemingly involved in the scene. The background features a landscape with a cloudy sky and a distant mountain. The figures are rendered with a focus on anatomy and emotional expression, characteristic of the Venetian Renaissance style.
