Description:

Piero della Francesca's "Madonna and Child with Six Saints" presents a serene and geometrically balanced composition. The Virgin Mary is enthroned centrally, holding the Christ Child on her lap. They are surrounded by six saints, identifiable by their attributes and halos. To the left stand Saint John the Baptist, presenting a kneeling figure (possibly the donor), and another male saint. To the right are Saint Francis, Saint Peter Martyr (with a wound on his head and a knife), and Saint Michael, depicted in armor. Above, two angels hover near Mary. The painting is characterized by its clear light, harmonious colors, and the solemn, idealized figures typical of Piero della Francesca's style. The architectural elements and the arrangement of the figures contribute to a sense of order and spiritual calm.
