Description:

The painting features the Madonna seated on an elevated, arched throne, tenderly holding the Christ Child in her lap. Mary is depicted with a serene expression, wearing a dark blue mantle over a red gown and a white veil. The infant Christ, unclothed, is held securely in her arms, looking towards the viewer. Both figures are adorned with golden halos. The throne is decorated with geometric patterns and rests on a base with the inscription "AVE GRATIA PLENA" and "A.S.M.CCCCCLXXVII". Flanking the Madonna and Child are two saints. On the left stands Saint Justus of Volterra, identified by his bishop's mitre, crozier, and the loaves of bread he holds, referencing a miracle attributed to him.
