Description:

The painting depicts a miraculous encounter between the Virgin Mary and Saint Bernard of Clairvaux. Saint Bernard, dressed in a white Cistercian monastic habit, is seated at a rustic desk amidst a rocky landscape, diligently writing in a large open book. He looks up in awe as the Virgin Mary appears before him, accompanied by several angels. Mary is depicted in a flowing blue mantle over a red gown, her hands gently resting on the open pages of Saint Bernard's book, seemingly inspiring his writing. She has a serene and compassionate expression. The angels accompanying her are dressed in vibrant robes of red, blue, and gold, their expressions attentive and reverent. One angel on the left holds a book, while another kneels in adoration.
