Description:

This is a detail from a larger ceiling fresco, showcasing a central oval composition surrounded by ornate, gilded framework and decorative panels. Within the oval, Cosimo I de' Medici is depicted being elevated to heavenly glory. He is shown seated on an orb, draped in a red and gold mantle, and crowned with a laurel wreath by a winged figure, likely Fame or an angel. Numerous putti (cherubic figures) surround him, some bearing wreaths and others supporting him on clouds. The overall scene is filled with a sense of upward movement and divine approval.
